The various types of mutual funds cover all of the classes of publicly traded assets worldwide. Thus, mutual funds provide a total solution to the needs of individual investors.

Mutual funds are classified by the following criteria:

  • Type of Securities (stocks, bonds, etc.)
  • Management Style (value, growth, blend, aggressive growth)
  • Average or Median Market Capitalization (i.e., size of the companies invested in)
  • Credit Quality (bonds)
  • Average Duration or Maturity (bonds)
  • Size of Fund (measured in dollars invested)
  • Industry
  • Industry Sector
  • Geography (U.S., world, international, regional)
